Scuba Diving at the Altitude – Lakes Scuba Dive
INITIATE IN QUITO.
At the Day before, we will have a briefing to check the equipment.
In the morning we will take the route to go on the north part of Quito. We will pass those beautiful Andes scenery until arrive to San Pablo Lake. On this lake we will prepared our equipment and we will be ready to dive on this lake. Laguna de San Pablo is an ecosystem that includes some representative species such as herons, ducks, some amphibians and many aquatic plants. It is also found at the foot of Imbabura volcano, from which flows the water discharged by the waterfall Peguche. In this place we will do 2 drippings. Then later we will have the opportunity to visit Otavalo`s Indigenous Market and time to rest.
In the morning we will drive to you to the Cuicocha Lake. This lake was formed on the caldera of an active volcano and is an impressive activity. This is part of the Cotacachi-Cayapas, located between the provinces of Imbabura and Esmeraldas. She is trained in an ancient crater at the foot of the Cotacachi volcano, inside there are two islets called Teodoro Wolf and Jose Maria Yerovi. Furthermore it is known as the Lake of the Gods and in the indigenous language, tsui-cocha. Then, we will come back to Cotacachi where you will have time to shop (articles in leather). Later, we will return at the hotel.
In the Afternoon we will repack and we will go to the next dive experience. We will make our dive on Mojanda Cajas Lake. Mojanda is a complex of three lakes Caricocha (male lake) or big lake, Huarmicocha (female lake) or small lake andYanacocha or black lake. The three of them are connected by different Paramo paths and defended by two mountains the Fuya-Fuya to the East and the Yanahurco or Black Mountain to the west. Everything is around the 3714 mtrs. (12785 ft.). We will see Paramo ecosystem. This is a high altitude ecosystem. Then we will drive to the south of Quito to the little village of Lasso where we will rest and be ready for the next day.
Very early in the morning we will drive to Quilotoa Lagoon. This is another High Altitude Lake. At an elevation of around 3,800 to 3,900 meters (12,467 to 12,795 feet), Ecuador’s Laguna Quilotoa is tucked within mostly undeveloped countryside, home to many indigenous peoples. We will go down from the view point to the lake. We will make to dives and then in the afternoon climb up, take our transportation and come back to Quito.
